Intro:
This formula is up to date as of Volume II: Book VIII (July 2009). It should be accurate to within 1-2 damage 99% of the time (under all tests conducted on it, it has not yet been off by more than 3).
Note there are at least three reasons for the results being slightly inaccurate:
| 1) | There is rounding on the stated dmg/max dmg values displayed on a weapon (the precise value for max dmg is (1+weapon type factor)·speed·dps, however its likely the stated speed and dps values are also be rounded). |

| 2) | There is rounding on the +x values of each skill. This can be seen by watching how they change with weapons of different speeds. |
| 3) | The part of the formula for the agility/might buff is, of course, only an approximation (its impossible to know what formula is actually used when we can only test over a range of values, ie: ~130-600). |

The Formula:
Damage = α·β·δ·(y%·(dmg + σ·max dmg·(0.335 + 0.001·ε - 0.000000335·ε^2)) + x) ...where:
α = Damage Buffs and/or Penalties [5] (radiance bonus, reveal weakness, to arms, etc.)
β = Mob Mitigation/Level Difference Effect (add back any -mitigation buffs. for gray mobs, β = max(β) = 1)δ = crit multiplier [2,3,4], ie:
· ranged auto attack crit/dev: δ = 1.3
· melee main hand auto attack crit/dev: δ = 1.25
· melee off hand auto attack crit/dev: δ = 1.5
· skill crit: δ = 1.5
· skill dev: δ = 2.0
(add on any crit multiplier or dev magnitude buffs. note fate increases the multiplier of any tactical dmg skills)σ = class specific bonus from might/agility, ie:
· Hunter ranged damage: σ = 1 (verified)
· Hunter melee damage: σ = 1 (guessed)
· Champion melee damage: σ = 1 (guessed)
· Champion ranged damage: σ = 0.8 (guessed)
· Guardian melee damage: σ = 1 (verified)
· Guardian ranged damage: σ = 0.8 (verified)
· Burglar melee damage: σ = 0.8 (verified)
· Captain melee damage: σ = 0.8 (guessed)
(other values are unknown although fairly easy to guess - if you are able to verify these or any other values with reasonable certainty, please update this list)ε = agility (for ranged dmg) or might (for melee dmg)
dmg = weapon dmg (random number within the range min-max. for critical hits, dmg = max dmg) [6]
max dmg = weapon max dmg
y% = skill's stated % of weapon dmg (100% for an auto attack [1])
x = skill's stated +number dmg (0 for an auto attack)
